Power is one of the essential parameter for economic growth and livelihood of people. The electricity consumption is an indicator that decides the development of the nation. The increasing demand of electricity and impact of conventional energy resources on environment will have a negative impact on the economic growth of a nation. In meeting the fast growing demand and in order to achieve sustainability, the consumer should share the responsibility with the electric utilities. In this paper classification of appliances and an analysis of electricity consumption pattern of such loads is presented for effective participation of consumer’s energy conservation
