The practice of detaining patients especially in clinics, maternities and hospitals for non payment or completion of their medical bills or just to hike their bill is a very clear omen that raises the concern of many to see the act as purely motivated and encouraged as total punishment and not a relief . The patient is believed to go to these medical health centers with the hope that his/her deteriorated healthy condition would be revitalized. In this work, primary and secondary sources were used to accessed the information that build the research work. This excerpts examined the very reasons behind the practice of medical detention of patients in Nigerian medical health centres which are do to lack of money or total refusal or non availability of resources to settle for such a bill or just to hike medical bills of patients or just to restore the health of patients from deterioting.
