The ‘Baby-friendly hospital initiative’ (BFHI), is intended to give every baby the best start in life by ensuring that, in environment such as hospital birthing units, breastfeeding is promoted as the norm and not supplemented by infant formula. The baby-friendly hospital initiative policies are a global United Nations Integrated Child Education Fund (UNICEF)/World Health Organization (WHO) sponsored effort to promote breastfeeding. The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, based upon the ‘Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding’, is an effective evidence-based model of prenatal care that protects, promotes, and supports breastfeeding. It seems that now-a-days, women are more concern in bringing more income to the family and they do not have the time for their babies to even breastfeed. Hence, researcher felt need of finding out the effectiveness of baby-friendly hospital initiative polices in this commercial era.
