Corona Virus has been affected almost all
countries of the world. Population of the entire world has
been faced the problem of food insecurity. The supply
chains and public distribution system were affected
during lockdown period. The government of India
announced lockdown on 25th March and it was
continued up to 17th may 2020. Lock down means no
pay and no work in rural and urban wage earners.
Workers in rural and urban areas are not in a position
to buy food for their livelihood. So it is the responsibility
of the government to distribute food through effective
public distribution system along with food security. In
this paper an attempt is made to analyse the impact of
COVID19 on food security and public distribution
system and how far the government of India policies
satisfies to overcome the present pandemic.
